St Croix Ironman 70.3 Planned for May 2
The 2010 St. Croix Ironman 70.3 remains one of the very few 70.3 distance races where qualifying slots are available for both the Ironman World Championships (Kona) and the Ironman 70.3 World Championships (Clearwater). The classic St. Croix course, among the most beautiful in the sport, has 28 Kona slots up for grabs, as well as 40 Clearwater slots. The May 2 date allows athletes to enjoy a tropical respite after a long winter, as well as an early season chance to get qualified for the autumn dates of both championship races. 10th Annual St. Croix Food & Wine Experience

The Boys and Girls Club will open a can recycling drop off site the last week in March in Anna's Hope. They will accept rinsed aluminum and steel cans every Thursday through Saturday. They need our support so they can broaden the scope to plastics and glass. Ag Fair a Big Success
With a theme of "Healthy Food and a Safe Environment Make Sen$e," this year's Agriculture and Food Fair of the Virgin Islands, the 39th annual, drew thousands of visitors from the territory and around the Caribbean. Local specialties, produce, plants, animals and crafts were sold during the annual three-day extravaganza. Many individuals and groups have bonded together to offer relief to the residents of Haiti. Gentlemen of Jones and People United for a Better VI have filled a 40' container in the Cost-U-Less parking lot in Estate Peter's Rest with more than 360 boxes of donations. The nonprofit organization of volunteers on all 3 Virgin Islands will be celebrating its 1st anniversary this week and next. They received 508 tips in the last 12 months, authorized $47,061 in awards, and have paid out $18,887. The Crime Stoppers Tip Line is 1-800-222-8477, and is anonymous. Art Thursdays
Held the first Thursday of each month through May, the event, which includes a series of gallery walks and informative events, encourage locals and visitors to discover and enjoy the region's many artistic establishments and galleries. Virgin Islands Quarter Officially Launched The commemorative quarter-dollar of the US VI was officially put into circulation in a ceremony hosted by Gov. deJongh and US Mint Deputy, Andy Brunhart. The design on the quarter reflects the natural beauty of the 3 islands and their rich cultural heritage. Gov. deJongh approves financing for Island Crossing project The documents for the 1st phase of the $40.4 million project, which will be the location for Home Depot among others, was signed this week. The center will be partially funded by tax-increment financing, and will be the first to use the government's new TIF program. New website launched by Dept. of Tourism
VisitUSVI.com is the new official site of the US Virgin Islands Dept. of Tourism. 18 months from research to launch, the department worked closely with industry and community leaders to provide the best features for visitors considering the VI as a travel destination.
